Cows and kangaroos hold the secret to develop anaerobic digestion everywhere in the world
Anaerobic digestion
There are two directions to be followed to develop the anaerobic digestion market at a global level: lower costs and finding new matrices. For the first point, the digestive capacities of cows and kangaroos (30 times faster than a biogas plant) are being studied in Oxford. A large scale alternative to energy crops may come from the plants growing in Africa and in other semi-arid areas of the globe, which could turn into energy farms, saving huge portions of land from the drought. An example? The Gorge Farm Energy Park in Kenya.
