Development prospects of the biomethane sector in Ireland according to Biocore
Applications and technologies
Biocore is an Irish developer of anaerobic digestion plants, currently operating with a 1 MW biomass plant and with a network of biomethane plants based mainly on agricultural waste and scrap in the planning stage. The company supports the new Biomethane National Strategy, seeing it as a positive step for the sector. However, Biocore is concerned about the need to quickly implement the measures outlined by the strategy, in particular the publication of the Renewable Heat Obligation RHO, in other words the legislation that obliges suppliers of fossil fuels for thermal energy and heating to also integrate a part of renewables, essential to stimulate the demand for biomethane.
