In this interview with Carlos Esteban, Technical Department Director at Grupo VALORA, it becomes clear that digestate management is one of the main challenges in biomethane production. Most of the input material in the plants remains as digestate, the result of anaerobic digestion, and many industrial plans initially underestimate the costs and complexity of its treatment. There is no single solution: each project must be evaluated individually, taking into account the quantity, benefits, and methods of digestate recovery. Its main use is in agriculture, where it can fully realize its value. The key to success? Analyzing the local agricultural context to define a management plan suitable for each plant.
