The biogas industry in Scotland: where to now?
Market and policy
The Scottish biogas industry has excellent potential mainly due to the large amount of food waste in the country. At policy level the development objectives for anaerobic digestion were set out in the pre-Brexit period, and no changes in direction appear likely at the present moment in time. According to Maurice Golden of the Scottish Parliament, some priority should also be given to digestates and biomethane, and not just to electricity production.
