World Bank and Biogas: funds and projects developed to date
Market and policy
Collected during the World Biogas eFestival, promoted by the World Biogas Association
The World Bank, the main international organisation that supports the development and the reduction of poverty in poorer countries, has committed for the last twenty years to collecting funds to fight climate change. In recent years, the organisation has mobilised resources in this sector worth approximately $5-billion, $2 billion of which were earmarked for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Biogas is definitely one of the technologies to invest in, especially in developing countries such as the Philippines, Nepal and Burkina Faso. In these countries, the World Bank supported the development of small-scale projects, which are crucial to the collection of waste that has been transformed into renewable energy sources.
In this interesting WebTalk, Marc Sadler provides us with an overview of what the World Bank has done and will continue to do for climate change!
