Biomethane in Poland: a great untapped potential
Market and policy
Despite its enormous potential, Poland does not yet produce biomethane on a large scale. The country could generate up to 11 billion cubic meters per year, reducing dependence on imported gas and improving national energy security. However, operational plants, financial support, and an adequate regulatory framework are still lacking. The biogas and biomethane sector has been calling for concrete actions for years to develop a strategic industry that benefits both the economy and the country’s energy transition. A great opportunity, still unexploited today.
