Ireland: Evergreen Agricultural Enterprises’ plant is ready to produce renewable biomethane
Case history
In Ireland, agricultural residues and by-products from the food industry are being turned into new energy. In Monasterevin, Evergreen Agricultural Enterprises’ plant will soon transform up to 165,000 tonnes of biomass per year into renewable biomethane. At full capacity, it will produce 110 GWh of biomethane, enough to heat around 9,000 homes and avoid 26,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions every year. But the cycle does not stop at energy production: digestate will also be produced and returned to agricultural fields as organic fertiliser. A circular economy model where agriculture, industry and energy work together. Let’s take a closer look at this plant in the video.
