With 300 hectares of agricultural land and 12,000 pigs supplying the Prosciutto di Parma production chain, Azienda Agricola Bizzoni represents a concrete example of the sustainable evolution of Italian agriculture. Since 2009, the farm has been valorising livestock manure and residual biomass through a 1 MW biogas plant. In autumn 2025, the company took a further step in its energy transition by converting the plant to biomethane production, with 250 Sm³/h injected into the gas grid. This new configuration allows the farm’s resources to be transformed into renewable energy, creating new economic opportunities to support future investments. A complete circular economy model, where biomass, energy and digestate are reintegrated into the agricultural cycle.
