Value4Farm is a project funded by Horizon Europe that brings together 14 partners from 10 countries with the aim of maximizing the production and use of renewable energy on farms. The project includes three pilot sites in Belgium (Flanders), Denmark, and Italy, each with its own specific characteristics. One of the main research areas focuses on biomethane production through in situ biomethanation, using hydrogen generated from surplus renewable energy.
This technology makes it possible to increase biomethane yields without increasing the amount of biomass used, while enhancing the value of locally produced energy. The ultimate goal is to make farms more energy self-sufficient, reducing dependence on the electricity grid and promoting more sustainable agriculture.
