Artificial intelligence applied to anaerobic digestion: a project promoted by the University of Surrey
Research
At the University of Surrey, in the UK, a project called “AI for AD” uses artificial intelligence to optimise the productivity of biogas plants, particularly in the anaerobic digestion (AD) phase. AI tools, combined with mechanistic models and mass balances, improve forecast accuracy and operational efficiency. The approach also includes the optimisation of the management of raw materials and of the entire production cycle, through the use of a “digital twin” of the digester.
