Cooperativa Speranza: biogas and agricultural biomethane/RNG for the first stop of the Italian Biogas Consortium tour
Case history
As well as producing meat and milk thanks to cattle breeding, the Cooperativa Speranza in Candiolo, Turin, has been involved in the sustainable energy sector for years. The Cooperative has in fact installed two biogas plants that transform animal and agricultural waste into electricity and heat. The plants produce 8 million kW of electricity per year and the same amount of thermal energy. About 70% of the latter is channeled to the nearby research institute in the fight against cancer. However, the Cooperative’s commitment does not end there: it has also recently inaugurated an agricultural biomethane/RNG plant that will produce 2,000 tons of sustainable liquid fuel per year.
These are just some of the reasons that led the Italian Biogas Consortium (CIB) to choose this organization for the first stop of the BDR Tour, the journey inside companies that adhere to the BiogasDoneRight model.
