MicroBioEnergy: generating thermal energy from waste using small-scale technologies
Research
The Microbioenergy project is the result of the collaboration of the Universities of Milan and Padua and Associazione Termocompost Italia and involves small-scale technologies, which can be used for heating buildings, cooking or heating digesters. These technologies recover energy from the aerobic biodegradation of micro-organisms, thereby generating thermal energy from green waste, woodchips and other types of waste.
A farmhouse in the province of Padua produces 5 Kw of thermal energy, thus proving how efficient and cost-saving this innovation is.
